WVFF Invites West Virginians to Participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
WEST VIRGINIA (October 22, 2025) – West Virginia First Foundation (WVFF) is encouraging all West Virginians to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 25, from 10 AM – 2 PM at locations across the state, in support of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and local law enforcement’s efforts.
For sixteen years, DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has helped Americans safely dispose of unneeded medications—those that are old, unwanted, or expired—to prevent drug misuse and abuse.
“When each of us takes responsibility for safely disposing of medications, we take a meaningful step toward ending the cycle of addiction,” said Jonathan Board, WVFF Executive Director. “Take Back Day is more than a reminder; it’s a movement toward a healthier West Virginia.”
Take Back Day is free and anonymous, with convenient drop-off sites across the state. Accepted items include tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription medications. Liquids, such as cough syrup, should be sealed tightly in their original containers. Please note that collection sites cannot accept syringes, sharps, or illicit drugs.
