WVFF Announces Re-Election of Region 1 Board Member WVFF Media October 14, 2026

WEST VIRGINIA (October 14, 2026) – The West Virginia First Foundation (WVFF) has announced the re-election of Dr. Steven Corder to its Board of Directors, representing Region 1, which includes Brooke, Hancock, Ohio, Marshall and Wetzel Counties.

Corder, whose initial term concludes in November 2026, was re-elected by regional representatives during an election held Tuesday, October 13, at the Highlands Event Center in Wheeling.

As outlined in the Foundation’s founding documents, the WVFF Board of Directors consists of 11 members, including six regionally elected representatives and five Governor-appointed members. Regional elections are conducted by elected local officials, including representatives from counties, municipalities and towns within each WVFF region. The process is governed under the terms of the original litigation settlement and is not controlled by the West Virginia First Foundation itself, but rather administered and overseen by the settlement administrator, Smith, Cochran & Hicks.

“Dr. Corder brings decades of firsthand experience treating substance use disorder and understanding the challenges facing individuals, families and communities across West Virginia,” said Jonathan Board, Executive Director of WVFF. “We appreciate his continued willingness to serve Region 1 and bring that experience to the work of the Foundation.”

Dr. Corder serves as Medical Director of Northwood Health Systems in West Virginia’s Northern Panhandle, where he treats individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions and substance use disorders. His experience treating SUD began during his medical residency and has continued throughout his career, including the development and implementation of comprehensive medication-assisted treatment programs for opioid use disorder.

Corder has served on the WVFF Board since its formation and has remained an active and dedicated presence both in Region 1 and across the state, working closely with regional experts and participating in site visits, tours and community events to stay connected to the people and organizations at the heart of this work.
