Award Summary:
Funds are being used to implement a comprehensive, evidence-based youth prevention initiative across Region 1 counties, including Ohio, Marshall, Brooke, Hancock, and Wetzel. This investment supports school and out-of-school time programming that strengthens social-emotional skills, promotes healthy decision-making, and reduces early initiation of substance use among elementary and middle school students. Resources fund delivery of nationally recognized prevention curricula, wellness-focused prevention strategies, and engaging prevention assemblies that reinforce key messages in age-appropriate ways. Implemented by a multidisciplinary school-based team, the initiative reaches more than 1,000 students annually and strengthens the regional prevention system by embedding consistent, data-informed practices that foster resilience, safer school environments, and healthier communities.
