Preston County Schools
Project Name:
Preston County Schools – Rowlesburg Opportunity Center
Award Received:
$125,000.00
Award Summary:
Funds are being used to sustain and strengthen the Rowlesburg Opportunity Center, an alternative education program serving at-risk middle and high school students during the 2025 to 2026 school year. This investment supports a small, supportive learning environment designed to help students facing truancy, academic challenges, social and emotional needs, or legal system involvement remain engaged and on track toward graduation. Resources fund middle school teacher salaries and provide enriching educational materials, including music, art, STEM activities, and experiential learning opportunities. By offering individualized support, building self-esteem, and fostering resilience, the program reduces the risk of substance use and other harmful behaviors while helping students recognize their potential and work toward long-term academic and personal success.
