Award Summary:
Funds are being used to implement a data-driven youth substance use prevention initiative in Preston County, with a targeted goal of reducing youth substance use by 25 percent from baseline levels. This investment supports the Integrated Community Engagement Program, developed in partnership with West Virginia University, which collects and analyzes local data to identify risk factors, guide tailored interventions, and build sustainable, community-led solutions. Resources fund prevention programming grounded in the Developmental Assets Framework, experiential learning such as Poverty Simulation activities, and training for SMART Recovery facilitators to support youth and families. By combining prevention, education, recovery support, and continuous evaluation, the initiative strengthens local capacity, fosters shared community ownership, and promotes long-term health and resilience for youth and families across Preston County.
