Award Summary:
Funds are being used to strengthen youth prevention services in Berkeley County by removing key barriers to participation, including transportation gaps, limited caregiver engagement, and challenges sustaining youth involvement. This investment supports expanded access to evidence-based prevention programming through the Juvenile Opioid Treatment, Intervention and Prevention Program, ensuring children ages 8 to 13 can consistently attend and complete services. Resources provide safe transportation to prevention groups and community activities, caregiver workshops that reinforce protective factors at home, and low-cost engagement tools that sustain youth interest and build resilience. Delivered through established partnerships with schools, public health, and justice stakeholders, the initiative increases access, accountability, and measurable outcomes while creating a scalable model to advance youth prevention across the region.
