Applications Now Open for WVFF Community Catalyst Grant Program
WEST VIRGINIA (June 1, 2026) – The West Virginia First Foundation (WVFF) has officially opened applications for its Community Catalyst Grant (CCG), a $9.87 million, three-year investment focused on reducing substance use, strengthening public safety responses, and improving rehabilitation and prevention systems across West Virginia.
Applications are now open and will be accepted through 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET on June 30, 2026.
The Community Catalyst Grant reflects WVFF’s continued commitment to long-term, outcomes-driven investments that support communities across the state. Structured as a three-year funding opportunity, the grant cycle emphasizes measurable progress, accountability, and sustained impact.
“We know the work of addressing substance use disorder and supporting recovery takes consistency, partnership, and long-term commitment,” said Jonathan Board, Executive Director of WVFF. “With applications now open, we encourage organizations across West Virginia to apply and share how they are creating meaningful change in their communities. This funding is designed to support strong programs while also ensuring accountability and measurable outcomes over time.”
The Community Catalyst Grant emphasizes standardized, performance-based funding, giving deference to meaningful outcomes over theoretical success. Clear expectations and reporting measures have been established upfront to help strengthen long-term impact and transparency across all funded projects.
The three-year framework includes:
- Year 1: Baseline development and system implementation
- Year 2: Demonstrated improvement
- Year 3: Sustained and increased improvement
“We ask all applicants to visit our website, carefully read the funding requirements, and determine their organization’s capacity and commitment to develop lasting impacts,” said Jon Dower, Chairman of the WVFF Grants Committee. “This model is designed to support organizations that are prepared to measure progress, demonstrate results, and continue building stronger systems and healthier communities across West Virginia.”
WVFF strongly encourages applicants to carefully review all application materials, eligibility requirements, and program expectations prior to submission. Awardees will be required to maintain ongoing data collection, reporting, and documentation throughout the grant period.
The full Request for Applications (RFA), application materials, FAQs, and additional resources are available at wvfirst.org/CCG.
Final funding decisions and applicant notifications are expected in December 2026.
