Award Summary:
Funds are being used to expand West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Certificate in Addiction Counseling workforce development program across Region 4. This investment supports a regional scholarship model that partners with city and county governments to use opioid abatement funds to grow the addiction counseling workforce in their communities. Resources provide tuition assistance, fieldwork supervision, and technology support to help students complete training and pursue Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification. By preparing credentialed professionals for placement with local behavioral health providers, the initiative addresses provider shortages, strengthens regional treatment capacity, and creates a sustainable pathway for workforce growth across Region 4.
