WVFF Encourages West Virginians to Participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
WEST VIRGINIA (April 22, 2026) – The West Virginia First Foundation (WVFF) is encouraging West Virginians to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by safely disposing of unused or expired medications at collection sites across the state.
Led by the Drug Enforcement Administration and its community partners, the event provides a free and anonymous way for individuals and families to remove unneeded medications from their homes, helping reduce the risk of misuse, accidental poisoning, and diversion.
“Prevention starts at home, and something as simple as cleaning out a medicine cabinet can make a real difference,” said Jonathan Board, Executive Director of WVFF. “We encourage all West Virginians to take advantage of this opportunity to safely dispose of medications and help protect their families and communities.”
Take Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at more than 4,200 drop-off locations nationwide.
