About Us:
The West Virginia First Foundation (WVFF) is a nonprofit organization established to address the opioid crisis and its lasting impact across the state. Created under the terms of the West Virginia First Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), WVFF was designed to receive and distribute opioid settlement funds. Guided by the principles outlined in the MOU, the Foundation operates as a private 501(c)(3) entity to support prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction efforts. Through strategic funding and community collaboration, WVFF is committed to creating sustainable solutions that improve the health and well-being of all West Virginians.
Job Summary:
The Southern Regional Coordinator plays a pivotal role in extending the reach and impact of the West Virginia First Foundation within a designated region of West Virginia. This position serves as a primary liaison, fostering strong relationships with grant seekers, award winners, local stakeholders, and diverse community groups. The Southern Regional Coordinator will be instrumental in organizing and facilitating local and regional gatherings, leading community discussions, and assisting Foundation staff in tailoring messaging that resonates effectively within the local context. This role requires a dynamic individual with exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of community dynamics, and a passion for advancing the Foundation’s mission through day-to-day operations and strategic messaging.
Key Responsibilities:
Liaison Services:
- Serve as a point of contact for grant seekers, award winners, and other community partners within the assigned region.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with local leaders, WVFF expert panelists, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, businesses, and government entities.
- Provide guidance and support to potential grant applicants, helping them understand Foundation priorities and application processes.
- Act as a bridge between regional needs and Foundation resources, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
Community Engagement & Events:
- Organize and facilitate local and regional gatherings, workshops, and informational sessions to promote Foundation initiatives and foster community collaboration.
- Lead discussions on key community issues, gathering insights and feedback to inform Foundation strategies.
- Represent the Foundation at local events, conferences, and meetings.
Messaging & Communications:
- Assist Foundation staff in developing and disseminating local messaging that accurately reflects the Foundation’s goals and resonates with regional audiences.
- Drive messaging efforts within the region to ensure consistent and impactful communication about the Foundation’s work and its positive outcomes.
- Collect and share compelling local stories and successes with the Foundation’s communications team.
Operational Support:
- Manage day-to-day operational tasks within the regional office or designated work area, including scheduling, record-keeping, and reporting.
- Coordinate logistics for regional meetings and events.
- Provide administrative support to Foundation staff as needed for regional activities.
Strategic Contribution:
- Identify emerging needs and opportunities within the region that align with the Foundation’s mission.
- Contribute to the development of regional strategies and initiatives.
- Monitor and report on regional trends and community impact.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Relations, Communications, Community Development, Non-profit Management) or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in community outreach, program coordination, public relations, or a related field, preferably in West Virginia.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Proven experience in organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, or community events.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM or database systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Deep understanding of the social, economic, and cultural landscape of West Virginia.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned region.
