Award Summary:
Funds are being used to expand behavioral health preceptor partnerships at West Virginia Health Right, strengthening the training pipeline for students serving medically complex and underserved populations. This investment supports supervised clinical placements for psychiatric nurse practitioner students, counselors, and substance use disorder counselors within an integrated, trauma-informed care model. Resources enable hands-on experience in a comprehensive “one-stop” safety net setting that combines medical, dental, behavioral health, substance use treatment, harm reduction, and social services. By exposing students to the full continuum of care and the impact of social determinants on recovery, the initiative builds workforce capacity and prepares future providers to deliver high-quality, integrated care in West Virginia’s most vulnerable communities.
