Award Summary:
Funds are being used to implement a reentry-focused peer recovery workforce initiative that trains individuals with lived experience to support others transitioning from incarceration to the community. This investment supports the training of 20 Peer Recovery Support Specialists using a specialized curriculum that combines peer recovery principles with reentry-specific knowledge. Resources provide paid, hands-on work experience, ongoing mentorship, and supervision, while supporting recruitment through partnerships with correctional institutions, probation offices, and community programs. By building a skilled, empathetic peer workforce and connecting participants to employment and recovery supports, the initiative reduces recidivism, strengthens recovery outcomes, and expands the state’s behavioral health workforce.
