Award Summary:
Funds are being used by the West Virginia Drug Intervention Institute to expand its Nalox(ONE) program, an evidence-based initiative focused on prevention at the pharmacy level. The project trains pharmacists to act as first-level responders by screening patients filling opioid prescriptions, counseling on safe use and disposal, and co-dispensing naloxone. By increasing pharmacy participation, patient screenings, and naloxone distribution, the initiative strengthens upstream prevention and reduces the risk of overdose before it occurs.
