WEST VIRGINIA (July 2, 2025) – The West Virginia First Foundation (WVFF) advanced its “Hold the Line Tour” on Monday with a visit to Southern WV Fellowship Home, an Initial Opportunity Grant (IOG) awardee from Region 6 that received $658,800 to expand transitional and recovery housing in southern West Virginia.
The visit followed WVFF’s second quarterly Board meeting of 2025 at the Tamarack Conference Center in Beckley, WV. Board members and staff traveled to the Fellowship Home to meet with leadership, tour current facilities, and see firsthand how IOG funds are being invested to increase residential capacity, create dedicated programming space, and strengthen support for individuals in early recovery.
“We’re not just adding beds; we’re building a program that will outlast any one of us,” said Ron Campbell, Executive Director of Southern WV Fellowship Home. “With WVFF’s support, we’re creating a sustainable, welcoming environment where people can rebuild their lives and, in turn, strengthen our entire community.”
Monday’s stop represents the second leg of the 2025 Hold the Line Tour, a statewide initiative celebrating IOG awardees that stand on the front lines of West Virginia’s addiction crisis. Each tour visit is paired with a WVFF board meeting to keep directors closely connected to the communities and programs their decisions impact.
“Our work is moving from promise to practice, and with each visit, we’re reminded that behind every number is a name, a story, a life,” said Matthew Harvey, Chairman of the WVFF Board of Directors. “Walking the halls of Southern West Virginia Fellowship Home makes the mission unmistakable: to help West Virginians reclaim their hope, find healing, and build a future that lasts.”
The Hold the Line Tour will continue in September during WVFF’s next quarterly board meeting. For more information on WVFF, visit wvfirst.org. For more on Southern WV Fellowship Home, visit https://swvfh.org/.
