WEST VIRGINIA (March 7, 2025) – West Virginia First Foundation (WVFF) proudly congratulates Chairman of the Board, Matthew Harvey, on being honored with the Richard “Dick” Shelton Lighthouse Award at the annual Conference of the Counties earlier this week. This prestigious award recognizes county officials who have demonstrated outstanding service and dedication to improving the lives of West Virginians.
As the Jefferson County Prosecutor and former president of the West Virginia Association of Counties (WVACo), Harvey has consistently exemplified leadership, integrity, and a deep commitment to justice and community well-being. His work in county government has had a lasting impact and this recognition is a testament to his tireless efforts.
“The work that we do has a real impact on the citizens of West Virginia, and if we keep our corners tidy, then the whole state will shine,” said Harvey in response to receiving the award. He emphasized that while each county faces unique challenges, a shared commitment to the state’s future unites West Virginians. “We all have different needs, but what unites us is our love for West Virginia and seeing West Virginia become the best version of itself.”
Harvey’s words reflect the power of dedicated leadership at the local level—meaningful efforts in every community create a ripple effect that strengthens the entire state. This commitment to service aligns with the mission of WVFF: empowering West Virginians to prevent substance use disorder, support recovery, and save lives.
WVFF extends a heartfelt congratulations to Chairman Harvey on this well-deserved honor and is grateful for his leadership and dedication to making a real difference in West Virginia. For more information on Chairman Harvey and WVFF, visit www.wvfirst.org.
