Job Summary:

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of the West Virginia First Foundation, Inc. will play a pivotal role in shaping the Foundation’s strategic direction and elevating its brand presence. The CMO will develop and oversee innovative marketing and communications strategies that align with the mission and goals of the Foundation across all units, driving long-term growth of awareness and image. This individual will be responsible for the creation of a consistent and impactful brand presence across all touchpoints through effective brand storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Deploy Foundation Marcom Strategy
    • Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that effectively communicate the Foundation’s mission, programs, and impact. Oversight also includes the management of relationships with external vendors, providing marketing and communications support.
    • Cultivate and nurture relationships with media outlets, influencers, and community partners to amplify the Foundation’s visibility both statewide and at a national level.
  • Budget Oversight and Management
    • Manage marketing expenses within budget, maintaining a marketing ROI-driven approach.

    • Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the development team to create marketing materials and campaigns that support fundraising efforts and donor engagement.
  • Manage Market Research
    • Analyze and Utilize data analytics and market research to assess marketing performance 

    • Identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making. 

    • Ability to recruit and grow the Foundation’s marketing and communications team as needed to achieve organizational objectives and goals. 

    • Assist in the development and execution of the Foundation’s overall strategic plan.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. 
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies. 
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, content creation, and public relations. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively. 
  • Experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in health-related organizations, is highly desirable. 
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in marketing analytics tools. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team. 
  • Passion for public health and the mission of the West Virginia First Foundation.
